Black Mail House’s material is influenced by equal parts The Beach Boys and The Addams
Family, thanks to the songs of the band’s principle songwriter and arranger, Patrick Windsor.
The band frequently uses dark lyrical themes paired with songs paying homage to the sunshine
pop of the 1960s. Other band members include bassist Alex Windsor, keyboardist and vocalist
Thomas Dalesandro, guitarist Dan Schiz, and drummer Carl Marrelli. Featured performers on
the record include guest vocals by Miss Shannon Mac (The Moontones), as well as the album’s
closing saxophone solo by two-time Grammy nominee Mindi Abair.
The band recorded at The Bunker in Los Angeles with Jason Schimmel. However, the album’s
trumpet, trombone, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, flute, clarinet, french
horn, tuba, oboe, english horn, violin, viola, and cello were all recorded remotely in various
home studios across the country. The final mix and mastering were done by Charles Macak in
Downers Grove, IL.
